Page fault in non-page area.... NT4.0

By paul4028 ·
Trying to run Streets and Trips 2001... when an exact address is entered into the search field the system blue screens. "STOP: x000000050(0xe2400000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000002) Page_fault_in_non_paged_area"
Entering just a city or less than an exact address does not produce the BSOD. Anybody have a clue what is going on?
The only reference to the x00000050 error refers to incorrect font drivers. Is this correct?

Page fault in non-page area.... NT4.0

Is this a WinNT application?? If yes, it sounds like a pagefile.sys problem. You can delete this file, although not easily. Try running chkdsk /f first and see if that solves it. Something else to look at is your pagefile size...increasing can't hurt.

To clarify...you can delete the pagefile...NT will set it up again at boot. Another way to do this is to eliminate the pagefile from one drive and set it up on another. You cannot actually delete the pagefile while the system is running.

Yes, this is an NT app as the subject line suggests (...NT4.0). I have already tried every combination of pagefile sizes and since we have two physical drives I have tried one/the other/ and both containing pagefiles. I have created very large ones and even doubled the RAM. All to no avail. MS support offers nothing...

Wasn't sure if the subject line referred to the OS you were on or the intended OS of the application.

How about the graphic card? Some cards do funny things with things like OpenGL...try booting in VGA mode and run the same app ignoring the lack of clarity....if it works, then the prob most likely rests with the video driver or card itself.

Twas the video driver...
Updated to the 'non-latest' version and it's ok. The newest (ATI) broke it.

Be sure to use NT Service Pack 5 or 6a. Earlier ones couldn't properly handle AGP cards that use some of system RAM for video. Intermittent memory conflicts would result.
