Palm IIIc Password

By ray@dhmh ·
A cow-orker accidently put a password on her Palm IIIc and does not know what it is. Unfortunately, she never did a hot sync to the desktop.

Is there anyway to get around the password without having to do a hard reset and lose the data?

In this page, they say it can be done by using the 'I forgot my password' feature. It also suggests some things to do about security:

There are some password cracker programs for the Palm. they work on some systems. One is a hack that is freeware but requires a hackmaster type extension.

The other is a $30 program

I would back up the palm first and if you are using a conduit like pocket mirror, see if some of the records are in Palm desktop.

Check out the freeware hack at:

The other one is at:

The last number is the PalmGear software number.

Hope this helps

I would just do the hot reset, and get it over with. it only has 8 meg of ram and how much data could she have on there. And she Never did a hot sync before? that thing is like 5 years old, what was she doing? Also more to the point what is passworded, specifically, did put somethign on there that is passworeded or is the start up passworeded, if so then you will not be able to sintall anything new on it, would you? I don't mean to sound like a party pooper , but there comes a time when we all must start over on something.
