passwords after screen saver envoked

By Shmogo ·
I'm trying to keep my kids off my computer so I installed Windows 2000 and envoked the password! WORKS GREAT, except, I thought it would prompt you for a password again after the screen saver has been envoked....it doesn't....not automatically anyway. Does anybody know how I can make the "computer" password apply to the screen saver as well so I don't actually have to shut down the computer each time I leave it?

Please help! Thanks

Sure, Right click on your desktop and select properties. Then go under the screensaver tab and check the box that says "Password Protected".

Good luck....hope this helps!

If you hit control/Alt/Delete when you are ready to walk away from PC does that give the option to lock workstation? This allows you to leave computer on but lock the desktop if you have a pssword protected account.

I used the solution given by Alpha-Male to "lock" a PC that is currently unassigned but which has a printer that is shared by several other users. The password on the screensaver keeps all but those "authorized" from using the machine improperly and causing it to freeze. (The PC is an old one with very limited resources.) That way the people who should have access can get to the machine and those that shouldn't can't get past the screensaver.
