PC cant connect to domain

By Moore_A ·
The error I received was "Can't connect to domain. Either because the domain controller was down or unavailable or because your account or password was not found. Please try again later." Now this PC was connecting getting email and other various network services. I checked the ip address after all this and couldn't ping the server, but the loopback test was ok. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm pretty confused. I don't want to reinstall the software...

Need more info... What is the OS on the workstation and on the Server???

If the server is running 2000 Server and the WS is 98, make sure that WINS is not running on the server and that you have the IP of the server in your DNS settings under TCP/IP on the workstation...

There is a confusion!
You said that this PC getting email and other network services but you can't ping the server.
Check:
-be sure that you ping the correct IP
-make sure that you use the correct account for domain and not a local account
-your domain account must be in User Manager for domain and valid for this workstation. Also must be a global account, not disabled, login hours. etc.
You can try to reauthenticate your workstation in domain:
-check in Server Manager for the name of the workstation and remove it
-Go to the workstation, logon as Local Admin and in Network properties \ Change \ Set the workstation as member of workgroup.
-Reboot computer
-Logon again as Local Admin and in Network properties set the workstation asmember of domain. Also enable the option <Create computer account in domain> and give the name and password of the Domain Admin account.
-Reboot computer
Hope this help.

Have you checked the Event Viewer on both the client and server? If you are receiving Event ID 3227 on the client, try the following:

1. Use Control Panel to open Local Security Policy in the Administrative Tools.

2. Navigate to Local Policies -> Security Options.

3. Double-click Domain Member:Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data (always).

4. Press Disabled.

5. Press Apply and OK.

I just had this problem today.

I assume you are able to log on to the box locally as an admin.

Open regedit, search for a value of "requiresignorseal", change the data to 0 from 1. Log off. Log on with domain selected.
