Performance in videoconferencing

By jhonyfuentes ·
I?m working on a baselining of several networked services for my costumer, including data transport over a WAN, IP telephony and videoconferencing. What variables should I measure in order to have data about the videoconferencing service performance?

the ultimate factors are the video resolution and sound quality as this will have the biggest impact on bandwidth - also factor a "comfort zone" to allow for remote camera control and negotiation. Also check the compression/encoding algorithm used - MPEG seems to be the most efficient (MPEG2) is used for digital satellite broadcast encoding.
