I used to moderate in a tech forum a number of years ago ; it definitely comes with a lot of responsibility but I’ve always enjoyed it. I find I enjoy it more here though.

If you have any questions or whatever, I’m just an email away; I’ve always got my blackberry on me. 🙂

I’ve been away from the computer due to being in Wagga (45 kms away 3 days a week) and the amount of time I’ve been in bed feeling unwell due to some health issues. I got wonder how I managed to post so many in the short time I was at the computer. Maybe I should spend some more time writing.

Over at ZDNet I’ve already been called a “shill” for MS!! The
really funny part, it was for a comment I had posted to Ed Bott’s
blog about Microsoft Surface and effects on OEMs BEFORE I
was “finalized” as a moderator, hehe! But I’ve got thick skin,
I’ve been called worse. The poster that made the comment
received plenty of head-slaps by others, I didn’t even reply…
besides, I was using my netbook at the time booted into
Slax on a USB thumbdrive, hehe! 😉

Welcome to the club of moderating. It’s a never ending and thankless job, but someone has to do it 😀

I know the pains of this as I have been a site admin for 5 years or so on an A/C forum. One guy even yelled at me because I blocked common “throw away” e-mail address sites for user registration. I told him that 99% of the spam was originating from them and that at one point it averaged several hundred posts per day that had to be deleted and that I wasn’t getting paid to do this work. Luckily there were a few other moderators that helped out otherwise I would have had to replace my mouse from clicking delete so many times :O

I’ve moderated my own email list a few years ago, but it was rather small…
just a group of us old DOS dinosaurs still using our ancient hardware to
get on the internet! Yes, that’s what I said, DOS! I still fire up my old
Pentium 166, boot her up to DOS (either 6.22 or 7.0 ) then dial up my
standby dialup ISP. Can’t handle a lot of the new stuff, JavaScript, Flash,
etc. but it’s still fun. 😉
