Plug-in error when attempting download

How do I resolve an error (plug-in error) when attempting to download an upgrade to IE. Specifically, what I need to do is enable 128-bit encryption on a Compaq pc running Win98 (not 2nd ed.). Thanks for your help!

Start with the DUN 1.4 update

As always, remove any spaces from the pasted links. There will be at least 2 in each link.

You may need to run Windows update, and install the critical and security updates before you will be able to download the newer version of IE.

If you still have problems, you can download various versions of IE from the browser archive at http://browsers.evolt.org/index.cfm/dir/ie/32bit/

Thanks! I was able to download and install several security patches and critical updates, then was able to download and install the IE v. 6 with the 128-bit capability. That solved the problem. You were right on the money! Thanks again.
