Good point, Bill! My help-desk telepathy tells me you're talking about sending a warning message to someone else on the network.

To send a pop-up box to someone else on NT, open a Command Prompt. Type NET SEND /? to get the instructions. For example,

NET SEND * The system will be shut down for repairs in 5 minutes!

would send a pop-up box to everyone in the domain with the 5-minute warning, your machine name, date and time, and an OK button. They click OK and the message goes away. If they have sounds turned on, it would generate a sound as well. Note: this will not work if the Messenger service on the target machine is turned off, but the default for NT is for Messenger to be on.

The Visual Basic code for the pop-up boxis MsgBox() but I'm too rusty to get the syntax right. :-)
