Popular Encryption/Decryption software?

By chungye ·
I know Encryption/Decryption software industry is not big enough as of yet, but there must be a few good ones still. I am talking about general En/De softwre that covers any data files, not limited to Emails only. What do you think are the most popular? What would you choose?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Encryption /Decryption solutions

by john.davis4 In reply to Popular Encryption/Decryp ...

Chung, there are many popular programs, including PGP however the majority rely on very long passwords and awkward user intervention. The KeyDrive from Portable Add-ons provide a neat way of encrypting a single volume - up to 2 Terrabytes - further protected by two factor authentication, using a simple USB token from Rainbow. Essentially the process is as follows; insert USB token, enter 4 digit, easy to remember PIN code, and your encrypted data is accessed, unencrypted on the fly, all transparently. When the key is removed, the volume is secured and then hidden. There is a single user version for those wanting to protect their own data and a PRO version for installation to chosen users across the network. The solution is around $100 per seat or less and uses Blowfishh as the encryption algorithm. Compared to PGP it is about three times faster and has very secure 'lost device' and 'data' recovery' methods also. Both data and applications can be held in the secure volume, blocking access to unwanted users for sensitive data as well as apps such as VPN clien or email software where often passworsd are pre-stored.It is currently available at www.pcconnection.com and through resellers in general. Portable Add-ons are in Hopkinton,MAand California, Tel 949 494 6049. Hope this helps. john.davis4@att.net

Encrypt & Decrypt is the Question?

by ZForce In reply to Popular Encryption/Decryp ...

I am having a difficult time finding a good software package that will encrypt and decrypt data as required. I recently found out that Network Associates (NA) has "pulled the plug" on their PGP software and stopped supported all versions.

However NA did want to sell me their e-business server PGP version but the license fees where enormous ($15K+).

So bottom line I am looking for a new encrypt/decrypt software package for my company.

Any ideas?
