Print server setup problem

By sdkslipknot ·
I have an issue with setting up a netgear ps101 print server and on the fist computer I installed it on, it worked great. On the second computer, on the end of setup, before you click finish to complete windows printer install wizard, I get an error message: Unable to install printer. The print processor does not exist.

Note: the reason why I am using a print server is because just untill recently the printer was shared out from a designated "server" machine and network browsing simply stopped and therefore the computers looking for the shared printer could not print anymore. Workstations could ping each other and nothing more.

I think you'll find it is an addressing issue between the particular computer and the network printer device. If you reset the IP. Subnet Mask and DCHP if you are using that this should cure your problem.

Actually I have reset and rechecked the IP addressing scheme I have set up, and have the same problem. I am not using DHCP. Also, I try and set up a fake printer and I get the same error message, that particular computer will not install a new printer.

betcha a donut it is a firewall issue and you could get around number of ways. one way is just install printer yourself and make up tcpip port for it yourself...

sounds like whatever was stopping browsing before might still not be fixed maybe...

Update: I was screwing around and made another fake printer, and assigned it to the print server port. It was a driver supplied by winxp, first one on the list. It printed!! So I just installed a printer closest to the one I am using. For the most part, problem solved. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
