I have a configuration problem with my canon LBP 810 printer in WIN XP. It was working properly then after it was moved in the list of printers and I tried to reinstall it but whenever I clicked add printer I get an error message that the operion can't be completed then I tried to uninstall the drivers but I failed completely so what can I do to reinstall the printer

is this XP Home or Pro? you may need to make sure your login name has administrator rights...otherwise, let us know the exact error message you are getting, then we can help better...

oh, what about using System Restore to go back to a point before the printer broke?

Sounds frustrating...
Suggest you uninstall all printer software/drivers.
Then restart of course.
Next go to START...then RUN.... then type in window 'regedit' then click OK.
This will take you to the registry.

You can do a scanreg/restore to a known date prior to your problems though this is through DOS.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT REGISTRY BEFORE YOU MAKE CHANGES JUST IN CASE.

Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder... look down for SOFTWARE folder...click on that and look for CANON folder...if the printer is the only CANON peripheral you operate then you can delete this entire folder.

The reason for going into the registry even after you've deleted the application is usually the software leaves entries and this may be causing the system to reload previous configuration which didn't work.

If you have Nortons Utilities or SYSTEM WORKS run this and see if it recognises the conflicts and repairs them for you.

Happy Clicking
