Printer? Parallel Port?

By JParade ·
I am trying to set up my printer after the house was struck by lightning. The modem was fried, so I replaced that. Now, when trying to print, I get an error. I re-installed the drivers, and the installer saqid there was no communication with the printer. I have checked all of the connections to make sure they were tight, and the printer has power. Does anyone know of a downloadable program that will check my ports, to make sure they are in proper working order? Thanks, JParade

Printer? Parallel Port?

There are programs out there but must require some sort of external loopback plug to fully test the printer port. Most likely the port is bad especially of it worked before the lightning strike. I would even try chaning the printer cable to narrowthe problem down to the port.
