Printer Problem

By jcaa ·
More often than not, when I try to print a document from the internet, my printer will not work. I have an HP Bubblejet printer. If I select the print button from within the web browser, nothing will happen. Eventually an error message will appear saying: " no default printer assigned".
If I look under "my computer" "printers" there aren't any printers. However if I reboot and then look, I do see the printer along with the option " default " selected.
Now I will be able to print to the printer from any application unless I try again to print from the internet. Why could this be.

Try going to print setup under the file menu, check the printer option and see what is specified. If you specify a printer her eyoushould be good.

Hope this helps.

Try deleting and then reinstalling your printer overwriting the existing print driver.

I've seen this happen if you are connecting to the 'Net with AOL and Netware Connect. If this is the case, uninstall Netware Connect from the PC, upgrade to AOL version 5 and reinstall NWC.

This could be a communication problem between the PC and your printer, specially if the later uses a bidirectional communication cable. You may not have noticed, but the printer could be not accessible before starting your browser. Replace cable and, if this does not solve the problem, then the printer may be faulty and require service.
