Printing 16 bit apps

By greysky ·
I am running a 16 bit application in W2K and would like to print via a USB port. Does any one know a way which I can "fool" the application into believing that it is printing to an LPT port.

Works every time

Just share the printer and create a small batch file and put it in either the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder or the C:\Documents and Settings\**insert username here**\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.
The batch file can be simple:
'*********************************************
'Use your actual computername and sharename below
net use lpt1 \\computername\sharename
'************************************************
Save file as printer.bat or whatever you want
If you have the capability to print to LPT2 it is better to use LPT2. You'll find out why if you move to XP.
