I have Windows NT 4.0 based network with one PDC and one BDC the clients are Windows NT Workstation 4.0. The problem is with one of my COBOL based application. I want to use PrintScreen key on the keyboard to print some screen reports but its not working. There is no PIF file for the program because the it is .cob file which is called through a Batch file.

PrintScreen sends the screen capture to the clipboard. A workaround for you would be to "Print Screen" then open Microsoft Paint or something similar and paste the screen capture there - then print from that app.

Kinda a pain, I know, but it'll work. You could, in fact, just leave Paint open after the first one, and then just successively paste & print in it.

I had this type of problem with some dos type applications. I ended up having to net use an LTP port and use TCPIP printing. Sample:

NET USE LPT1 \\%COMPUTERNAME%\HP600 which is basically telling the computer to map lpt1 to this computer and share name (queue) and then you just need to enable port pooling and setup the ip address in ip printing.

There are some tools around, one is called "ScreenPrint" and it is probably downloadable from somewhere on the net. You can use this to direct screenshots directly to a printer or save them as files for later printing.

We recently purchased a dozen licenses for CaputreEZE 97 Deluxe Print Screen Utility. It performs screen captures/prints croping/fliping editing etc... Relatively inexpensive, maybe $20 per copy. \\www.screencapture.com for more information and atrial version.
