Printing from Command line

By dennisbv ·
I have a Windows 2000 machine and before I upgraded from NT I was able to print form the command line. Example If I have a program and I want commands to use if at the prompt I would Enter C:\ProgramName.exe > prn
If there are any command line switches it would send them to the printer or it would sent the program output to the printer. How can I get this back?

Printing from Command line

I would just do a NET USE LPT1 and map the LPT1 port to a network printer. For example, if \\SERVER1 has a shared printer called PRINT1, you would do this:

NET USE LPT1 \\SERVER1\PRINT1

And then, just redirect your printer output to LPT1:

c:\programname.exe > LPT1

That will spool the output to LPT1, which is mapped to the network printer.

hope this helps
