Printing from DOS

By Dragon of Sapphire ·
I have a strange printing problem when using WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS through Windows98, second edition. (I have WordPerfect installed in the DOS area of my Windows98 PC). The first time I try to print I receive this error message: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated. Quit all programs and then restart your computer." Under details, the message is "The program tried to execute an invalid instruction. Fault location: 0028:01BB. Interrupts in service: none." I am forced to quit out of WordPerfect. If I go back into WordPerfect, the document prints fine. Please explain.

My PC is a Compaq 4784, 200 MHz, 80 MB RAM.

If you can normally from the DOS prompt ie:
c:\windows\copy win.ini lpt1:
Note you'll have to do a Form feed after this to remove the paper.

If the above works It's Word Perfect not DOS.What do you mean "the DOS area of my Windows" I use WP 5.1and Have an icon on my desktop that executes WP. The programs runs in full screen DOS mode but thats how Windows ME handles it?

Try turning on/off the printer spool settings for the printer. also try the emf or Raw settings. Also What kind of printer is it? Is it a 100% dos compatible printer, Can you do a dir >prn from a reboot to msdos mode? if you can't then you don't have a 100% compatible printer. Also try to just run it from a reboot to msdos mode if you can get a directory printout.
