problem in migrating database

Hi .

I m facing some problem in migrating database from sql server 7.o to oracle 8i,The problem is that when i migrate databse .the table fields of sql sevre 7.0 type VARCHAR convert in to CHAR in Oracle ..is there any way to convert auromatically VARCHAR2 in oracle ...
one method i found while using DTC wizard conevert every fields to VARCHAR2 manually.

Hi. It's a while since I've converted one myself, but the problem came down to the choice of driver when accessing the Oracle database through DTS. The best driver for the job is the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Oracle, which will create VARCHAR2columns from VARCHARs. Another potential pitfall is any table that has multiple Blob fields, which you may have convert manually (as you have been doing for VARCHAR2s). Make sure you use the latest version of MDAC (should work fine with 2.5, butbest be up to date with 2.7).
