Problems opening files in NW6 server

By don_makro ·
I can't open any application in NAL on NW6 server. It's all started after running SP2 for Zenworks 3.2.

It looks like rights issue but it's not.

This is the message I get when trying to open a .doc file:

'The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
*Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
.......location of file.......'

If I go to location of a file and try to open, it would give me the same message.
It same happens with access and excel documents, only it's different message.

When I restart server it works for 2hrs, sometimes less or more, and it happens
again.

Since I installed Zenworks SP2, Pegasus mail doesn't work at all.

I've reinstalled client 3.32sp2, recreated applications in nal and the problem still exists.

If you need any information, please feel free to contact me on don-makro@optusnet.com.au

Thank you
Makro

Just went through the same thing. Win2k and XP users were locking up trying to access mapped drives.
New TID downloaded patch in TID 2966392, 483psp2d.exe. it is an accumulation of patches Post SP2. Apparently SP@ was entirely inadequate.
You must have 4.83 and 4.83sp2 applied before applying.

We didn't see a problem with Win98 accessing the network, just Win2k and XP. Maay be something else going on.
Have you applied the Win98 3.32 sp2 patch? We did it on somebut not all and all win98 are working fine.
Are you using nss volumes or fat? Ours was fat.

Sorry forgot one thing, we do not use zenworks at all.
You might try removing Zenworks from one of the win98 workstations and see if the problem goes away.

Thank you for your respond.
I forgot to mention that we are using Win98SE on most machines and W2K on some machines.
I've downloaded the file from novell site and I'll let you know if it's working.

btw Is there any similar file for 3.32SP2 as for 4.83SP2?

Regards

So far there is no problems with W2K since I've installed that file. But, it's still too early to jump to conclusion.
I'll see what will happen on Monday morning.

The problem still exists with Win98SE machines.
