By Tauqir Rahman ·
hi,

i m facing a problem with windows XP installation in hp compaq nc6400 laptop.

Whenever i try to install windows xp it shows the following message--

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3. "

Plz someone help me on this matter.

NB. i have not found any option at my laptop's BIOS to change the SATA mode from RAID to IDE

If you are running a RAID.....

by Darryl~ Moderator In reply to problems with windows XP ...

You have to press F6 at the beginning of the install process when prompted abouot SCSI & RAID drivers....then part what through the installation it will ask you to install the RAID driver.

If you can disable the RAID in the BIOS you wouldn't have to go through this process.

You need the SATA Drivers here

by OH Smeg In reply to problems with windows XP ...

XP doesn't have Native Support for SATA Drives so when the First Blue Screen of the XP install Appears you need to press the F6 key and wait till you are prompted to insert a Floppy into the A Drive with the SATA Driver copied to it's Root.

Yes I know no Floppy so this isn't an option the easy solution here is to Slipstream a Install Disc with the SATA Driver Included with nLite available free to use here

http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

You will however need a M$ OEM Disc to work from and you'll need to remember to read the Directions of use for nLite here
