Profile Corrupt on Win2K

By huddee ·
I attempted to sign onto my Win2K as administrator and was informed that my profile was corrupt. The computer had frozen previously while shutting down when I was installing a printer. Unfortunately I have lost all my files in the my documents folder and my personal favorites in Internet Explorer as Win2K signs me on with a temporary profile each subsequent time. Is there any way I can retrieve my files and/or get my permanent profile back as administrator?

Try adding adding a user to your local administrators group. Log on as that user and
Right click my comuter - properties - user profiles. Delete the profile for the original administrator so that a new profile is created when you once again log on as the original admin.
you may be able to recover a few things before you delete the profile by copying shortcuts and favorites things left on the desktop etc. by using explorer and rifle through the original admins profile structure under c: - documents and settings - administrator. copy them to your new admin folder structure or "all users" under the same

Thank you!! I went into my registry.bak and was able to transfer all my favorites and settings to the new administrator profile. It had ceased making a temporary profile after a while.
