Try removing the soundcard driver with control panel/add remove programs. Then reinstall it.

If that doesn't work, you will have to manually delete the driver files:

right click my computer and click properties

click the device manager tab and the + next to sound video and game controllers

click the sound card and then click properties

click the driver tab and then click driver details

write them all down and then delete them

you may have to boot from a startup disk and delete them in DOS mode

restart the PC and when prompted, reload the sound card driver from the disk that came with it

might work..... nashcomp

you may have to re-install windows

insert windows CD, click browse this CD and double click the setup icon

i can't seem to find the sound video and game controllers option in device manager.
usually it's there, but some reason, all i see is advanced power management support, aol adapter, aol dial-up adapter, dial-up adapter, plug and play bios, processor support, system board.

please advise!

thanks

In the device manager, click the circle next to the words "View devices by type" and try again.
