proxy server user access

By nky008 ·
Hi all,

How to set the proxy server to restrict 1 group of users to browse only one URL, while the other users can still brown any URLs without restriction.
Please help!!!

Alex.

Depends which proxy you are running.
Squid answer as above, except to add using Samba to check security based on read access (or not) to a dummy file in the NT file system. If a test word can be read from this file, access is allowed to all sites. If not the only unrestricted sites are specified in a file. We have exactly this setup at work, and if you want I can send the details.
The other way is using ISA server from Microsoft. It is more straight forward for this purpose, but of course youhave to buy it. You just setup access rules based on users/groups.
