RAS Problem - Dial In..

I have install RAS on an NT4.0 Server SP6. Everything seems to running fine
on the server end. I configured the modem & network settings. The modem
inintializes properly and the RAS admin utility states that it is running
and waiting on a call. I believe everything has been properly configured on
the server. When I dial in, using a Win 98 machine, it connects to the
server, but states "The computer you're dialing into does not respond to a
network request. Check the properties of the connection. If this problem
persists, check with your system administrator". I have been back through
the settings on the server & workstation, and tried several different
"tweaks", but still the same message. How can I spot the problem?? Thanks
for any help in advance..

Take a look at the bindings for the Dial Up Adapter in Network Properties...I believe all you need to have bound to the adapter is TCP/IP...that seems to fix a lot of problems here where I work. We have about 300-400 customers dialing in the same way...

First, are you using SP6 or SP6a? SP6 had a lot of problems, including RAS (if you noticed, you can still download SP5, SP4, etc. from MS, but you cannot download SP6 anymore). Upgrade to 6a if you are on SP6.

Also, you don't say if you gave the user dial-in access under User Manager for Domains.

Another strange quirk is that the local Windows 9x username and password (the one that is stored as a .pwl file in c:\windows) should be the same as the domain username and password.
