Rconsole directory scan error

By gniehaus ·
Receiving error when attempting rconsole directory scan of sys:_netware from DOS (or W95) workstation.

Error: The system could not allocate additional memory. CreatePortal returned error 254

The error occurs only when scanning large sys:_netware directories.

Receiving error on server with 256Mg RAM, 73% Cache buffers.

Thank you for any advice.

Never mind how much RAM your PC or your server has, it's a DOS application that is producing the error. It's your rConsole.exe that cannot build up the list in memory, prior to showing it.

Why do you want to see the NDS directory?

There may be another solution on the server:
-LOAD NETBASIC
-SHELL
This way you get a DOS-like shell on your server, in which you can see the _netware directory.

Careful!

Thank you Jim! This is good workaround.

To answer your question about why view NDS files.......
Internal IT auditors requested to view contents of SYS:_Netware volume.

Your warning is well taken. Viewing is all they will be allowed to do
