Acrobat Pro can interact directly with any Twain scanner.

With Pro you can combine/merge files and similar tasks, in addition to being able to edit PDFs.

You can create macro-like shortcuts called 'guided actions'

"Standardize routine, multistep PDF creation tasks using automated or guided Actions, working with a single file or batches of files"

Thanks. That's overkill for our purposes, both in terms of capabilities and price. I'll keep it in mind, but I'd like to find something simpler and cheaper.

Over the weekend I remembered I have three unused Acrobat 7 licenses! It took a bit of poking to figure out how to do what the users want in a way they're comfortable with, but I think this will work.

Thanks!

It actually looks pretty neat, I will try it at home. I have a HP scanner that does not have the best software.

Scanner software

by DFagerstrom In reply to Recommend scanner control ...

Depending on whether your scanners are TWAIN or ISIS, perhaps contact a LaserFiche reseller, ask if they sell a "lite" version. Call a CPA firm [ local , not Big 4 ] to ask what they use--many smaller firms use Fujitsu hardware....the software might be available separately. Last, SilverFast used to offer upgraded versions of the software they provided for the likes of MicroTek. They have always supported a huge number of manufacturers with their add-on sofware.
