    Recovering Exchange Info Storage to diff

    I would like to restore backup recovery from exchange to a diferent server. I don’t like to restore to the same server as the original because I may mess up the current data base. Is there a posible way of doing without taking off the current exchange offline?

      go to ms web site and get the disaster recovery white paper, it will cover what youa re trying to do.

      There is, and Gary’s answer pointed you in the right direction. The problem with it is that if the original server continues to be active, the production server and the recovery server will not contain the same information unless people are preventing from logging in during or after the backup.

      However, if you’re talking about just recovering the contents of a single mailbox, that’s not a problem. The white paper Gary mentioned is excellent but a more specific article to single mailbox recovery can be found on Technet under article Q163713. I just did one today and it worked very nicely, although it does require a couple of hours if you don’t already have the recovery server properly built and configured.

      This is possible by installing a new server with different name. copy the MDBdata and Dsadata folder from existing Server database and run insteg patch if is offline backup. rename the computer name and join the existing site.
