Recovery CD

By josenyc ·
There are a lot of pc's that come with a Recovery CD. I'd like to set up the same thing on the laptops that are issued to students at my school with the current image that we've installed. What software utility is out there to help me set this up? We currently use Ghost and save the image on a server and when a laptop needs to be reimaged we simply just transfer the image to the laptop. I'd like to take it an extra step and give the students the image on a cd so that they can do it themselves.

You can use Ghost to create your CD (check this site out http://www.ora.nsysu.edu.tw/~goldentime/bootcd.htm).

You need to create a bootable CD that will include the standard boot files and an autoexec.bat file that will execute Ghost.exe and use the image file that you store on the CD.

We created a floppy that loads a clean DOS image on our hard drives. The line used to execute Ghost is

ghost\ghost -clone,mode=load,src=a:\image\6562-eol.gho,dst=1 -NTIL -SURE

In addition to the standard boot files we have two folders on the floppy, Ghost (which contains ghost.exe, .env, and .ini) and Image (which is where the image file is stored).
