Recylce Bin (Keeping users from permanently deleting files)

By techrepublic ·
I had a semi odd request yesterday...

A user was deleting some files on his desktop and because of the size of all the files it did not send them to the recycle bin and after it was half way through the deletion he realized it was the wrong folder..

Is their a way to keep users from permanently deleting files.

I want all files to goto the Recycle bin first even if the recycle bin size is too small..

Thanks

Re: recycle bin.

If the files are important he or she could use the restore feature included into xp.
(start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore)Choose to go back a hour or one to two days.

Setting

If you right click on the recycle bin as an admin, you will have a sliding option of manually setting the recycle bin size as a percentage of the hard drive.

Try not to set it more then 80%, find out the largest file hes working with and set it to about 10% more then that (give or take).
