Dear Fellow PC Friends. Can anyone give me a suggestion of a in-expensive or free way I can remote into a family members computer to help him instead of having to drive over to his house? He uses a router for 2 pc’s in his house through comcast. and I use 2pc’s with a router through DSL. Remote desktop dosn’t work. Of course our pc’s on the home network have the 192.168.x.x type of addresses. Anyway looking for something simple and reliable. Thank You for your expertise! Have a great day!!

You can download and install VNC from:
http://www.realvnc.com/download.html
But probably you can use even the remote desktop.
For the first time verify if the remote desktop is enabled on computers.
After this you can create a VPN connection to desired network. If the VPN connection is connected, you can make a remote desktop to desired computer, using the computer name or the IP address.
