Remove Help from Start menu

By sandi.deahn ·
We need to have "lockdown" PCs where there is NO right mouse click. That we can do. What we would also like to do is remove the help option from the start menu. Can that be done? PCs are running NT 4.0 workstations.
Thanks

Remove Help from Start menu

To be honest I can't see how it can be done... But I would like to offer a suggestion... by leaving it there it will allow users to look at some basic help before calling you for trivial things (like how to change wallpaper for eg.).

Help is not ease to remove. Help points towards the file hh.exe in the systemroot. If you replace the exe with your own exe. You can show a screen, that if they need help the call the helpdesk.

for removing some other functions of the start menu. Change the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER

NoFind REG_DWORD set to 1 to remove the Find (search) command from the start menu.
NoRun REG_DWORD set to 1 to remove the run command form thestartmenu.
NoSetFolders REG_DWORD set it to 1 to hide control panel and printers and my computer in explorer and on the startmenu
NoSetTaskbar REG_DWORD If set to 1 only drag and drop can be used to alter the startmenu and desktop the taskbar doesnot appear on the start menu.

NoTrayContextMenu REG_DWORD if set to 1, menus do NOT display upon right click of the taskbar, start button, clock, or taskbar applications icons. The entry is only available for nt4.0 with sp3 or higher.
The same for NoViewContextMenu REG_DWORD

Hope this helps, good luck.
