Removing address bar

By pltparts ·
Is there a way to remove the address bar in IE5? I dont want to just hide it, I want to remove it alltogether so that there is no way to navigate to any other websites than what I set as the homepage.

Removing address bar

Hello:

that wont work because if you open the explorer gui
and type an html address in there it defaults to ie 5.0/5.5/6.0 or whatever you are using and goes to the site, try it. if it is just for one machine security software will do the trick if it is enterprise wide the you need to set profile permissions. let us know which it is and we will expand on the options.

You can also just edit the registry for Win9x systems to restrict changing the home page, proxy settings, etc. Please add a comment to your question if you want the exact syntax for that...

Disable changing proxy
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Control Panel\Proxy
(DWORD=1)

Disable changing Homepage
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel\HomePage
(DWORD=1)

To re-enable any of the above, change the DWORD value to 0 (zero).

Note that once you get to the Internet Explorer part of the path, you may have to add those KEYS (Control Panel) exactly as shown--they might not already exist.

Also, check these sites (remove any spaces from URL's):

Won't do any good. They will just use a site like msn.com and enter the site url into the search engine then click on the search results.

What enviroment are you in? Server client?

What OS?

There are other ways.
