Removing .dot tabs in Word2k

I need to figure out how to remove the Memos tab, and the Legal Pleadings tab and all of the other tabs from the new document choices, the only thing my boss wants up there is the company letterhead, and fax and etc., anyone figure out how to do it in 2000?
I searched the reg. and found lots of code, but don't know exactly how to change it....
PS, don't tell me how to add new tabs, that falls just a little past common sense. I need to remove tabs, not add them.
Thank you...

All you need to to is go to Start --> Find --> Files or Folders and type *.dot Then hightlight and delete all the template files you do not want to use. Normal.dot is blank by default... you will probably want to edit it with your letterhead and go from there. Do not worry if you accidentally delete normal.dot ... Word 2000 will recreate a blank one for you.

This is from MS Knowledge Base Article Q210884:

To prevent a default tab from appearing in the New dialog box (on the File menu, click New), you must uninstall all of the templates that are located on that tab.

Example: if you do not want the Letters & Faxes tab to appear when you click New on the File menu, you must uninstall those templates from the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\
To remove the Letters & Faxes tab (and its associated templates), follow these steps:

Quit MS Word2000.

On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Word 2000 (or MS Office 2000), and then click Add/Remove.

Click Add or Remove Features.

Click to expand (click the plus sign) MS Word for Windows.

Click to expand Wizards and Templates.

Click Letters and click to select Not Available from the drop-down list.

Click Faxesand click to select Not Available from the drop-down list.

Click Update Now to continue the Setup program and remove the Letters and Faxes templates from your system.

NOTE: If you just delete the templates that are listed on the Letters & Faxes tab from the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\" folder, MS Word still "advertises" these templates on the Letters & Faxes tab. If the template does not exist, and you click to select any of the templates listed on the Letters & Faxes tab, Word instructs you to install the template with a message similar to the following:
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.

Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 Premium' disk and clickOK.

Use feature from:Microsoft Office 2000 Premium To install the template, insert the Microsoft Word 2000 (or Microsoft Office 2000) CD-ROM and then click OK.
