Rename a CD Drive

By ninet4 ·
I want to know if there is a way to rename a CD Drive in Windows XP. Not a disk, but the drive itself. My CDRW drive shows up as "CD Drive (R:)" in windows explorer. I always set my CDRW drives to R: to help me distiguish that it is my recordable drive. I just wish I could rename it from "CD Drive" to something more descriptive. Something as simple as "CDRW" would be fine with me. I already searched my registry for both "CD Drive" and "CD Drive (R:)". Found nothing. I also tried the command line command "label". No dice. Anyone else do this?

Control Panel, Administrative tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. Right click on your CDRW Drive and click Change Drive Letters.

I didn't ask how to change the drive letter. I asked how to change the drive name. Nice try though.

Well, holy crap. I don't believe it. Someone was actually helpful for a change. Thanks for the link. It worked perfectly.
