Replication in Accesss 2000

By steve.grey ·
I have just set up 3 machine's networked in a workgroup running windows XP. All machine's use a common Access datafile which is password protected.
However I wanted to be able to create a Master file to Replicate/syncronise the datafile to all PC's, however Access is telling me the file CAN NOT be replicated as a Master file due to the "Password protection"...is there any way around this???
Any ideas?

Replication in Accesss 2000

What we have done is create a Master database that is not password protected but is kept on a secure part of the server. Then we replicate out copies that are used to do the actual work. No user ever sees the Master (except the PM when required for conflict resolution).

However, why don't you just split your database into frontend/backend and let everyone use a common backend? This would seem to be the easier solution if everyone is networked together.
