Reset monitor to factory settings?

By dfriezen ·
Is there a way to reset a monitor to its default factory settings (this is not related to Windows display properties!)? A user decided to tweak the monitor settings and then asked me to undo the damage. 30 minutes later, I got the monitor back to a usable, but not optimal, condition. Pincushion and trapezoid still seem out of whack. I would like to reset and start from scratch if possible.

I assume the manual isn't available. I would guess, since you're asking for a hardware solution that the answer would vary by manufacturer. I would go to the manufacturer's and check the tech support section.

If the monitor has a menu open it and look for a reset option there. If not, the factory default is usually all knobs centered. Since you have a pincushion adjustment I would guess you have a menu option...there is usually a option to reset from within that menu. It may not be obvious especially if it uses those blasted symbols instead of English. Good luck!

Use the Recall function from the monitor menu. It should be a diamond with a left-arrow.

I don't know what monitor you have but if the option to restore factory defaults isn't available in the standard menu you will need to access the HIGH-end configuration menu. On the monitors I use this can be achieved by turning the monitor off, holding down the menu button and turning it back on, once it re-aooears your press the menu button again and you are presented with a completly different menu that has a great deal of configuration options.
