Resolve the conflict between PLC methodology & WBC deliverable oriented

iyadsalehsaadeh
To start a new project for a well known industry you find that we have a ready project life cycle methodology with defined phases and deliverables so you can proceed and build your schedule based on that. On the other hand if you choose to start with building the WBS and follow the PMI advise to build a deliverable oriented logical hierarchy, you will end up with different structure to build your schedule. My questions, is this a conflict? How to proceed? and why?
Thanks

An advised resolution for this issue is to select the life cycle first, tailor it as appropriate and then use that to develop the deliverable oriented WBS. In this way the highest level of the WBS will usually consist of the tailored phases/stages, and the lower levels consist of the ordered set of activites, tasks and work products based on a hierarchical decomposition from those life cycle stages/phases.

If you need any further information on this issue let me know.
