Restore Mails in Outlook Express

By sbarwal ·
I'm having win2k professional installed on my PC. I was using the Outlook Express(OE) 5.0 to pop my mails from the Server.
It was working fine. But on 25 July 2001. I had a virus named TROJ_SCAM.A or W32.Sircam.worm@mm.
Then I simply copied (by FTP)all the folders to another UNIX System and since I was not knowing the solution at that time I have formatted the HDD and reloaded the WIN2K.
Now when I'm restoring the folders through
File - Import - Messages - OutLook Express 5 - Next- Import mail from OE5 Directory - directory name....
It is not showing all the folders and even It is not showing my mails in Inbox folders.
Even though I'm having around 820K sixe of Inbox.dbx.
I have copied all the files (*.dbx) by using BINARY mode of FTP.
Kindly Help Me.
The data is very important. Sincec it is my last 1 years data.
Thanks.

The file you are looking for is "*.pst"
If you were on winnt before, it can be found in winnt\profiles\user_name\application data\local settings\microsoft\outlook or something close to that. Do a search for it, since you have saved all your foldersit should be in there.
Good luck!

Mike

This may help .

http://chattanooga.net/~scochran/DBXtract.htm

OE5 has a proprietary binary format that makes archiving
individual messages difficult. In addition, a number of
people have indicated that their message folders have
become corrupted and OE can not read them. Consequently,
they have lost all the messages in that folder.

DBXtract.exe extracts all mail and news messages from
individual dbx files. After extracting the messages one
can drag them from a Windows Explorer folder into an Outlook
Express mail folder.
