Restricting floppy executables

By the emu ·
We are using NT and system policies for users in our library. I would like to prevent them from running executables from a floppy, yet still allow them to download executables to a floppy, as well as data files. Is this possible?

Not really, The only things you can do is to use floplock (from the NT Resouce kit) which will not let anyone except an admin use the floppy drive.

The option we use where I work is to have a 'sacrifical' PC that can be used to run anything the users want. This PC is isloated from the network and kept in IT, Every few weeks it is re-ghosted from a fresh image.

If anyone is caught running dodgy software anywhere else then the penalties are severe.

Regards,
