RH 6.0/6.1 Install thru NFS Continued

I defintely need more info, but one thing that is easy to miss is that the portmap service is controlled by the /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny files. If you have a line in hosts.deny "ALL:ALL" then you need to add "portmap: ip_address" to allow access to the portmapper service from ip_address. I think if you man portmap it says something about portmap not being controlled by the tcp wrappers, but it does read those files for some odd reason. If you still can't get it to work, comment out all of the entries in the hosts.deny file.

If you need help with nfs the howto can be found at:
http://linuxcentral.com/linux/LDP/HOWTO/NFS-HOWTO.html

If that still doesn't work the http install is easiest to do. Simply make a symbolic link to your cdrom: "ln -s /mnt/cdrom /home/httpd/html/cdrom" when the cdrom is mounted.

Then you can install using the bootnet.img disk to boot and install using http://the_server_name_or_ip/cdrom/

easy as pie.
