Start with the basics

I would suggest to start with the basics, and start off small and work your way up. I have found in the 3 1/2 years working in the IT field as network technician (admin for many companies at my job) that experience trumps all. I have passed both my A+ amd Network+ exams from CompTIA and currently working on Security+ before I go forward with any Cisco or Microsoft certs. Those are three I would higly recommend to anyone wanting to get started.
