routing

By kyu50 ·
If I connect 2 network cards to the same lan , with different IPs.
I do a ping from this machine to a second PC.
Witch network card will it take to send these ICMP messages??

Is it like STP where the lowest MAC will take priority, or lowest IP addr or still some other way of choosing??

And is this the same for all platforms or do different platforms react different ???

I would presume that this is dictated by the Default Gateway address for each IP stack bound to each network interface as to which would route the request.

Ross, I?m not going to explain my setup.
What I posted seemd like a normal question.
If you know the answer, please provide. If not, you?re in the same situation as me; and will have to wait till you read the answer.
If I put a sniffer on the network I will know, but I still won?t know the theory behind it.
