SDSL Modem + W/L Router with VPN issue

By saumil_s_shah ·
Hello All,

How are you ? I am more of a newbie in networking world....I bought this W/L Router with 15 VPN Tunnel ability.

I have SDSL modem router ( cabletron flowpoint 2200 ) with 4 Ethernet ports. Now, I am connecting one of these Ethernet port (Port 1) to Linksys Wireless - G VPN Router ( WRV200 ) .

Now I am trying to create VPN connection with the VPN Users I have created. But , here comes the problem....... Modem router is providing its private IP (192.168.0.1 for example,) to Linksys Wireless Router. Linksys wireless VPN Router is providing its private IP to my Windows 2003 Server ( 200.200.200.1 for example , ).

The public / Live IP assigned to me is ( 66.207.34.31 for example,) ....then for Linksys Wireless VPN Router to establish VPN , it would need the public / Live IP (66.207.34.31) and not the (192.168.0.1) as mentioned above.

I tried googling a bit ....read something like PPPOE and stuff...but couldnt comprehend much....could anyone please provide me with detailed implementation of this.

I am sure this is pretty common problem to network admins.....it would not have been problem for me if it would have straight forward Modem forwarders and not Modem Routers....this is where I am stumbled.

Appreciate your help.

Thanking you,

Sam
