Seeking Advice

I own a small computer training and consulting company. My classroom size is 6 students, and I am about to upgrade by buying three 800 Mhz Gateways.

What is your opinion? Should I struggle to buy 1 Ghz, or will 800 Mhz last me for about 3 years? As with most people, I am on a tight budget.

It really depends on what you are teaching. I use 500MHz systems which run very well. The new 800MHz system are a little faster but am sure it is the name you are buying. There is a lot of hype around the new 1000MHz systems but in the next year or two the 2000MHz system will be available making the 1000MHz system just as slow as the 500MHz.

As long as you rebuild your systems every now and again the 800MHz system should be perfect.

Thanks for your input. I'm choosing 800 because I want something that can last for about 3 years--maybe with upgrades.

Unless you are going to be doing a lot of graphics or something like that the 800 Mhz will be plenty. I have a 500 Mhz P3 and it runs things very well.
