This message is generated in XP. So we'll assume that's your OS. I'm slightly confused. Are you saying that the computer automatically restarts or has to be restarted? Or does the error come up everytime boot your PC?

If this is an upgrade or fresh install of XP you should go online and make sure all drivers are certified to be compatible with XP.

Usually I've seen the second issue, where the error message pops up everytimethe PC is booted. The PC should work fine after closing the dialog box. The error is created once a previous problem has occurred. Doesn't have to be anything major either. Even though the problem may no longer exsist the flagged error continues to come up at each reboot. This problem has been patched.

There are 2 easy solutions.

1. Use instant updater and install SP1 and SP1 fixes for XP.
