Could someone please direct me to any resource that describes the server service in Workstation. Any help most appreciated.

The server service is what give NT the ability to share directories.

The Server service is what allows your computer to share its directories and printers with other computers. If you are not wanting to share your devices you can stop this service and get a little faster response.

As for a reference, try any bookfor the Microsoft MCSE Server exam. They should cover this service. My reference was the instructors manual for the 803 and 922 microsoft classes.
