Server shut down option for remote users
LockedI have a client that is having issues with end users shutting down the server when they use remote desktop. I’m trying to turn off the shut down option on a Server 2008 server for remote users and found this solution:
You can use the GP “Turn off legacy remote shutdown interface” under “[User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Shutdown Options]” on a Windows 2008 machine.
First off, I had to look at Computer Computer configuration since there wasn’t a policy for this in User Configuration. Also, the description states that it supports Windows XP and Server 2003 systems but we have users logging in with Windows 7. Is there a group policy that only applies to the server shutdown and includes Windows 7 clients?
My other question would be is it possible to use a logon script to limit shutdown if a user is connected remotely and if so, what would the verbiage be?
