Servicepack 6

I thought I read somewhere implementing sp6 on a certain type of compaq computers would cause a problem. If so can anyone tell me what type of compaq and what kind of problem?
Thanks

I am unsure of Compaq, but please note that SP6 is only 40 bit and not high security if you need it. This package will probably not be out until next year.Only a quick note.

When you apply NT SP6 to COMPAQ Proliant 6500 server and after that reboot You will have a bluescreen. There is an incompatibility between Compaq NC31xx LAN cards and SP6 which causes BSOD immediately after "press Ctrl-Alt-Del" logon screen is displayed. You can read more on this at ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp11501-12000\sp11718.txt file (which contains "This SoftPaq also addresses a bluescreen error that appears when NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 is installed" and I think www.sunbelt-software.com have a more complete report on it.

Search the compaq web site. The driver for some of the Proliant servers NICs has an issue with SP6.

Although IMHO SP6 is way too new to be loading onto a server. We're still trying to get a stable platform for all combinations of our apps to work on SP5. Untill after the big New Years party we're at SP4 w/rollup and hotfixes.

FYI I am running SP6 128 bit right now on my personal box.

Hi, here's what I've found...

SERVICE PACK 6 PROBLEMS
Many people have no problems, but there is a whole slew of
issues that have stuck up their ugly heads already. One of
the biggies is a change that was made to TCP/IP and any product
that uses PORTS like Lotus Notes breaks. It currently requires
users to have administrative rights to use ports.

Several people reported blue screens on Compaq Proliant 6500
servers whose NIC's seem to choke on SP6. Inoculan seems to
have problems, and as expected we need to update AutoPilot
when the new SP6 symbol table gets out. Coming weekend you'll
get more about it. But you are now warned. Tread carefully
and make SURE you can uninstall!!!
