setting up e-mail client with proxy

Shadow, I have not used Netscape proxy before, but i do use MS Proxy. It took me a couple of times to get it right, but it came down to not opening the proper ports. Typical Outgoing (SMTP) port is 25 and incoming (POP3) is 110. Not sure where to exactly where to change them in your type of proxy, but make sure these settings are there.

Try setting your clients to retrieve from

.[isp]

I had a similar problem but with MS Proxy. The server already had the ports open and I didn’t know what was wrong. Then I checked the setup of one of the computers. It was setto retrieve from “pop-server.” I knew that was right because that is what Road Runner had us to set it to. I then tried “pop-server.san.rr.com” and it work. I hope that this works or that you still need the help.

Try to enable proxy for POP3/IMAP protocol in the Proxy Server. Then you might be able to check mails from any POP3/IMAP server behind the proxy.
