Setting up TV as monitor

By Kingspens ·

Hello, I have a 32in Insignia NS-32E400NA14 that I am trying to connect to my custom built PC with a HDMI cable. I keep getting the No signal message whenever I to connect them. I haven' t turned on my PC and let it start up for the first time so; I wanted to know if I needed to get a actual monitor and configure my PC before I could use my Insignia as a monitor?

The order of things

Select the hdmi channel on the tv. Then start up the pc.
Is your hmdi port on the motherboard or a graphics card?
If it is a graphics card then you might need to use a normal monitor and load up all the drivers first.

Drivers

by TheChas In reply to Setting up TV as monitor

You need to use a monitor or at least a VGA input on a TV for the initial boot of your computer and install the proper driver for the video card for the HDMI output to function properly.

If the input source is off, the TV will always show no signal.
